I am an Engineer by profession and a Baker by passion. Originally from Mumbai, I graduated and landed a job in the tech industry.
My baking journey started after I moved to California for work, in 2015. Being a hardcore vegetarian (meaning no eggs even), I would crave baked goods in the USA where eggs are an essential ingredient in the baking world. Even in the SF Bay Area, the vegan and vegetarian bakeries did not give me much hope.
After trying a couple of these bakeries, I once attempted to make a box cake (ready pre-mix) at home. It went terribly!
I have no idea what I was thinking when I decided to try and bake a cake from scratch. But to my surprise, it actually turned out really good.
It was a condensed milk bundt cake with a sugar glaze. The glaze wasn’t perfect but it was still delicious.
I use a version of this recipe to make my Mango cake. The recipe is available on my Instagram highlights.
Soon after that, I made a Red Velvet frosted cake. This, by the way, is still my absolute favorite flavor. And everyone I have baked it for, has loved it and still craves for it. There has been no stopping me, since.
I started with cakes but over the years, I have learnt to make various scrumptious desserts that include cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, cakesicles, macarons, mousse cakes and more. YouTube and the amazing bakers on the Internet have been my gurus.
The lockdown gave me an opportunity to elevate my skills. After recently relocating, I am now continuing my journey in Pune.
